Well, it appears that the worst of the frost season is over, (I hope).  Its been over a week since we had to run protection.  The pluots, apricots and peaches are done blooming, we are waiting to see what kind of crop they set.  The duke blueberries are in full bloom and the chandlers are about there.  We planted about 1800 raspberry plants several weeks ago.  These will produce a baby crop next year and should be producing a full crop in 2012.  We also planted a small number of rabbiteye blueberries last fall.  These will produce berries in September and October.  They normally grow in the south but they seemed to handle our cold winter this year.  One of the plants that did not handle the cold winter was the Obsidian blackberries, much of the canes that would have produced this years crop were killed by the frigid temps this winter.  This fall we will try laying the canes on the ground in the fall and see if this will help with winter hardiness.  I love this season of the year, everything is growing, there is a sense of expectation and the hope of a bountiful harvest.  T
