May flowers

Well, the April (and May) showers have given us a lot of flowers.  Some of the flowers have become fruit and some are just blooming.  Here are some pictures to let you see what is happening on the farm today.  We have set a good crop of blueberries.  The raspberries are in full bloom and the honeybees are busy pollinating the flowers and collecting nectar.   Max, our farm dog is patrolling for gophers and the new trees we planted this spring are enjoying the mild temperatures.  We expect to begin picking raspberries in 3-4 weeks depending on the weather.  The blackberries are just starting to bloom so it will  be 5-6 weeks before they are ready.  We are working on weed control in the new plantings, trellis for the raspberries and fertilizing our plants.  As we get closer to harvest we will give updates on when we expect to hberries available.
