The raspberries look very good this year. Max the berry dog has been testing the early berries and gives them his seal of approval. The crop will be about average in quantity but the berries should be large because of the cool weather. The blueberries should also be large this year. Our blackberries are still 2-4 weeks off depending on the weather. Because the weather is being so kind, with the cooler temperatures we would recommend that you reserve your berries early, in case summer (with it 100 degree temps) decides to make an appearance this year. Our berries do not like it when the mercury hits the century mark.
The cooler moist weather has also been good for the new raspberry plantings. They are growing well, unfortunately, so are the weeds. This good growth should allow us to pick a light crop off of the new plantings next year. That is about it for now I need to go mow so we are ready for picking to start Saturday.
